don't ever go here for ur mechanical needs
First of all please don't ever go to this canadian tire. It all starts with my alignment in a surrey canadian tire store and they did not do the job well. Then I come to kelowna and ask these guys and they say they can't do anything about it. Next I have a gas leak and I go there, the mechanic inspects and say that a gasket has to be changed in the fuel connecter which is on the side of the fuel tank. he checks with someone else and says that the part is not available and says that I have to replace the whole fuel pump ($850) for a 98 neon. I have my own doubts and go to another local mechanic and they find the part from chrysler and finish the job for $160. While I was in the canadian store , there was another customer who was duped by these guys and did unnecessary repairs. Lucky I was not duped. Take this as a serious warning and reconsider your decision about canadian tire. Just google about canadian tire and you will see reviews from other people. check this out:

especially stay away from canadian tire stores in big cities. Hope this is helpful for someone.

Mastercraft Digital Multimeter 52-0060-2
Digital Multimeter 52-0060-2

The price was almost give-away, but is there no CTC buyer who checks a sample of these products before they go on the shelves?

No battery included, but that's OK. Instructions: "Remove the screw on the back." But there are FOUR screws on the back, with no indication of where the battery goes. Instruction on the back: "Install fuse and battery ." No indication of where the fuse goes or how to obtain one.

Oh wait a minute -- the battery compartment is the top opening, the fuse the lower one. And while there's no battery, there IS a fuse already in.

Now the only problem is you need a magnifyer to read the ranges on the dial. But, as I say, the low price was remarkable, and it seems to work fine. In short, instructions "Poor"; value "Great."

Awful
The corporation as a whole is terribly mismanaged. The weekly flyer is made 6 months in advance yet nearly every week a FRONT PAGE sale item is not only not in stock, the stores have no idea of when it will come in. Don't take this for the rants of an angry customer, I am also a current employee who is fed up with having to tell customer's 'sorry, that item did not come in. No sorry we don't know when it will come in. I'm sorry what the kid on the phone told you, we don't train our employees. I'm sorry you had to drive an hour, call back every day for the next two weeks and hopefully it will come in, if by God's graces you call and the truck has arrived and has been unloaded and it happens before the sale ends and you happen to make it here in time to get one of the 15 items we ordered, then your good to go! Yes I know that's ridiculous, but no rainchecks"

Add to this the faux '99' numbering system which they have created. The 99 prefix denotes the item as a 'promotional' item meaning it is not regularly stocked and therefore rainchecks cannot be given. However, these 'promo' items are typically regularly stocked items taped together with packing tape with a new barcode slapped on to them. The 99 prefix merely allows the company an easy way of denying customer's rainchecks. If the company wishes to deny rainchecks on certain products than simply state so "until current quantity expires", the 99 prefix only results in ridiculous shipping problems and makes the company look silly when they have an abundance of the product, yet because it wasn't shipped with the proper barcode customers must be turned away and told the item may or may not come in some time in the next year and they should call back daily until it has.

The representatives of canadian tire
I dont understand the kind of values that are instilled into the employeees of canadian tire which makes them agressive and defensive regarding the tiniest thing whether at work or not. I witnessed a 'GM' of Canadian tire get into a fight at another retail store for $10 and everyone could agree that the woman's behaviour was out of order. The reason I have to mention this experience here is because her basis of the argument was pretty much 'I am the GM of Canadian tire, dont mess with me'. She was yelling and using force with the employee who was helping her out. It was so disturbing to watch that I felt the need to walk up to the employee later and apologoze on behalf of the crazy Canadian tire GM. I dont know what the CTC has been teaching its employees but they do not own the world.
I'm sure who ever witnessed this incidence that day will forever repel Canadian Tire to a degree. People like this wouldnt think twice about attacking a customer in their own 'territory'. So someone who leads about a humdred employees in one of the stores of the GTA, I can only imagine what the rest of the store would be like.
I AM NEVER STEPPING INTO THE CANADIAN TIRE STORE NOW AND WILL TRY TO GET OTHERS TO DO THE SAME!

I will NEVER deal with Canadian Tire again!
I will never EVER shop at Canadian Tire again. They are absolutely horrible. I purchased a bike there on April 8 (before the Easter long weekend). I rode it once around my block and discovered that it shifted very badly. This was not really a huge surprise considering that it's a $100 bike (Supercycle 1800). So today (April 13), I went back to the store with the intention of exchanging the bike for a better one (I was willing to upgrade to a more expensive brand). I was told there are no refunds or exchanges on bikes!!! The cashier and the supervisor were absolutely rude and unsympathetic so I asked to speak to the General Manager. The supervisor called him saying, "the customer wants to go over my head. Can you come deal with her?". Lovely. Anyway, so the manager came out and like the supervisor before him, told me, "you should've ridden the bike around the store if you wanted to get a feel for it." I asked him if he thought it was reasonable to ride a bike up and down store aisles and if he thought that would really give me a good idea of what a bike was like. He just shrugged and started to walk away. So I said, "this is how you stand behind your products?" To which he responded, "we have warranty service". As if any kind of service will turn a crappy gear system into a good one. So I'm stuck with a $100 piece of junk. I will never shop at Canadian Tire again - I wouldn't care if it were a life or death situation, that store will never receive another dime from me.

BUYER BEWARE!!!
I have had one too many bad experiences with the Canadian Tire Store at Eglinton and Laird location, particularly when returning any item.

i. I purchased a mitre-saw. I had no need for this item and when the sealed and unopened box was returned, I was given back a 70% value of a credit note which apparently expires in 6 months!

ii. I recently purchased 2 vanity lights for my bathroom renovation as we were undecided which one would be give the final appeal. One of the vanity light was purchased on a credit note and the second on a credit card. We decided to keep the one we purchased on our credit card and asked to apply the store credit towards this purchase. The store manager refused to do this for us. She refused to look any alternative to help the customer. Instead, we now have another credit note for the returned item which will of course expire in 6 months. My conversation to pursue this further with Customer Relations at Head Office was in vain. Dianne asked me to follow-up with the store owner or highest ranked person.

iii. This Canadian Tire store was very willing to sell me an open box but did not check if all the items were in the box. I had to insist the cashier make not on the sales receipt it was an open box and had to further insist she initial her remark.

iv. Store credit note from the Laird-Eglinton Canadian Tire store was not acceptable at another Canadian Tire store!!!

v. Canadian Tire stores are independantly owned and operated. The head-office customer relations lady stated they cannot enforce anything at the store level. hm!

vi. My overall impression of Canadian Tire stores is very poor. I am disgusted with their approach and customer service. It appears they don't care about customers at all, always too willing to sell their products but WILL NOT help when you want to return anything.

At this downturn of our economy businesses are bending backwards to work with customers, Canadian Tire gives too hoots.

Customer Service
I had a horrible experience at a local Canadian Tire franchise. I was shopping with my 4 year old and bought some items. Some of the items were bulky and I needed to take a shopping cart to the parking lot. There are metal posts that are set up in front of the store so to not let people take the carts out. I asked if they could remove the posts and I was told no. My options were to leave my 3 and a half year old and let him watch the merchandise (I don't think so) or run to car hoping what I just bought would stay there and drive to the front of the store and load. I obviously had to do the mad dash to the truck trying to keep my eye on the merchandise. Last time I checked Canadian Tire sold a lot of bulky items. How impractical can they be, can you imagine my nerve trying to shop on the weekend with my son, how dare I do that? Moving along, out of the various items I bought, the 2 main items were a an electrical pump to inflate pools, toys etc... as well as a "hose roller". I opened the pump only to discover the adapter shown on the picture was not in the box. I then went to put together the hose roller and that was defective. I had nothing better to do on a Saturday afternoon except run back to Canadian Tire. All I wanted was my money back at this point. I had totally lost confidence in the quality of the merchandise and the retailer itself. When I went to return the items and get my money back I was told that that would be impossible. After being told that it was my fault that the adapter was not in the box " I should have opened the box to check before", I asked for an exchange on this item. So this problem was taken care of, however I did not want the hose roller they had and I did not want to be bothered to go back in the store and choose another model that would be more expensive. I just wanted my money back. I was told that they could not do that. I asked for a store credit or gift certificate so I could come back at a later time to choose something else. I was told this was not possible. So ended up taking hockey tape, umbrella, and a candle totaling the amount of the hose roller, after all those items can not be screwed up. I called customer service and was told that store manager has the discretion to refund the money and they stood by his decision. I feel like I got totally hosed (no pun intended) in this. I learned not deal with Canadian Tire and from now own I will spend my money elsewhere. Too bad since the "Canadian" retailer was on its way back up. Too bad they don't respect their customers.lesson learned, thank you CT

Returns
My son tried to return a knife that he purchased 5 days ago after the cashier told him that he would have 7 days to returned it. He went to the counter and the clerk asked for a phone number and photo ID, which he does not have, he is only 12 years old. She told him that he needs to provide the information. I step in and attempt to help by showing my DL and again was not accepted. We both were treated with absolute no respect. I phone the costumer service and Natascha, the attendant told that the stores are franchises and they their own way of dealing with costumers and was nothing that she could do. I did asked then, why they need all the information if the proper receipt and the item was in prefect condition with the proper packaging. She could not provide a proper explanation, but kept on saying that she knew how I feel.
In my opinion the so called costumer service is extremely poor. The store does not need all the information that are asking. I will not provide any information to any store, there are to many identity theft now a days. In my opinion, I rather shop some place else.

Greenhouse
I purchased Easy Build Greenhouse from Canadian Tire (Merchant Drive, NL)in 2006. Within two years it totally disintegrated. Warranty was only good for 1 year. Supplier said they would replace plastic panels. Canadian Tire would not give me a refund or credit. Not worth the time and expense it would take to dismantle and then reassemble. This product is definetely not suitable for it's intended use. Product should be taken off the market. Very disappointed. One lost customer!

customer service
I was recently in the sherwood park location, i ripped my jacket on one of the fixtures in the store. The manager was very helpful, he reimbursed me for the repair that i had done on my jacket.
Also canadian tire has the best outdoor furniture selection.
