CAREER BUILDER IS A COMPLETE SHAM...DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME WITH IT!
I have been at the VP of marketing level for two companies over the period of the past 20 years and have developed a tremendous work track record. I have made the mistake of applying for what appear to be legitmate positions on Career Builder and immediatly start getting all kinds of responses that have nothing to do with the job I applied for. Part time jobs, sales jobs etc that would be an insult to my professional background. Oh yes, then there are all the career counselors who try to sell resume services and career counseling.
Very simply, Career Builder is a great site for people who sell their wares to people who are looking for jobs but its a complete sham for those actually seeking quality positions.

Careerbuilder con job
They admit your personal information is passed on if you read their posted policy carefully. I subimtted a resume, not supplying my real name, designed by a real professional job agency and was advised I should have it redone by them at a huge cost. Must I say more?

These con artists make me sick.

I can't believe they get away with what they are doing...
My first experience with careerbuilder was via the local paper that uses their feed in their "jobs" classified.

Total garbage user interface but still they are logging in over 10 million unique visits per month and are the 41st most visited site on the www.

Just unbelievable how they can get away with this kind of thing.

Job boards need to be more local and more "industry/company focused". It's the only way to make things relevant.

Time for change for sure.

Career Builder - Jobs postings are stolen from various free job boards.
I have had enough of career builder. I have posted job opportunities on allstar, canada-jobs etc and career builder has been indexing as their own.

They also require an email address before the job seeker is able to apply for the position.

Then a day later a career builder rep phones me to sell a job posting package, claiming they are one of the biggest job boards, with the highest web traffic and have broadest range of jobs.

OF COURSE! if you bloat your job board with stolen jobs posted on free sites then turn around and sell a job posting package!

Cluck-Blocked!
The very worst is that now nearly all major newpaper.coms don’t even bother posting their own classified. Not only is Carrierbuilder.com completely worthless their C#!K-blocking legitimate sources of information. Somewhere some Classifieds nerd went… hey, I can collect a paycheck at half the work, and now we can’t even look for jobs. Careerbuilder’s a total joke, the second I see their logo I direct away!

Spam, worthless searches and job matches
I have finally put my resume on private with Careerbuilder. I still want access to the jobs they post because some places will only post there, but this site is worthless 90% of the time. I recieve spam messages by the thousands from them, or people who have gained access to their database.

You can block companies from seeing your resume, but beware! If you change your resume or update it in any way, the block comes off and you are back to square one! I talked to customer service and they said there is nothing that can be done about it. Yeah, right. Monster doesn't seem to have that problem.

Job matches that they run have absolutely NOTHING to do with my career or my qualifications. I constantly receive matches for nursing, engineering, construction and other jobs WAY outside my skills and education. I've even had physicians' or dentists' jobs come up with their job recommendations. Since when did Marketing and Medical expertise become interchangeable?!

Their searches are impossible to use. If I put in marketing, it takes me hours to pour through the listings. I do it, but only because I have to. And then, only once a week.

They seem to be a favorite of Insurance companies looking for agents. Everytime I have been stupid enough to update my resume, I am again on the recruiters email and phone call lists. They waste more of my time than anyone else.

Stick with Monster or one of the other responsive job seeking sites unless you post your resume to private. Careerbuilder is a waste of time.

Career Builder SUCKS! SPAM SPAM SPAM!
My email address is now useless. Never post a real email address!
I'll stay with Dice. I get about 5 legitimate jobs a day from Dice and Monster and 10+ more CB spam. The legitimate offers from CB are junk mass mailings usually from off shore firms. Usually if the job looks good, I can search for it and often find it at Dice. I will never work with a recruiter or company who contacts me via CB.

careerbuilder spam
I too have received spam from careerbuilder.com. I asked them to remove me from their site, but they never responded. I complained about spam from their site, several times, but they never responded. Of all the headhunters that called me while I was looking for a job, I never heard one say he/she found my resume' on careerbuilder. I ended up blocking emails from them.

Nothing but spam
The search engine for jobs is week at best. It is not accurate either by job title or location. But the main problem with Careerbuilder.com is the amount of spam posting a resume generates. I am getting 10 - 20 spam emails a day and Career Builder will do nothing to stop them. They have a disclaimer that they "try" to screen employers. I am not seeing anything of the sort. The emails I am getting are not just from the US. I have also been unable to get my account deleted due to this issue, again no help from Career Builder. I do not know who this service works for but it has definitely been a frustrating waste of time for me.
