No communication
I've used them for many years. Their tech support has always been very helpful and answered all my questions. Compared to other hosts that I use, I think they give you alot for your money. But, and it's a big but, when your site goes down you are left completely in the dark. They should at the very least send out a quick email stating what the problem is and give an estimate on how long the problem will take to fix. My site has been down for most of the day and I've heard nothing. It is extremely frustrating.

Regular downtime, worst webhost ever
Crosswinds are the worst webhost ever. They have been around for a decade and are known in the industry for dubious tactics. For example, they had a free hosting service 8 years ago on which they promised "never" to place any ads "ever" and yet they did. It was a common 'bait and switch' trick. Then they closed down the free hosting service and forced people to take out paid hosting. They have suffered regular downtime and lost thousands of people's websites (search online to see what I mean). Do your research and avoid this dodgy company!

The amateur look of their website is reflective of how poor the service is.

I've stuck with them because they've stuck by me.
I've been a Crosswinds customer for longer than I can recall. Their customer service through the years has been beyond outstanding. When I come to them with a question or request, they are eager to help and always respond with a friendly, helpful attitude, something which is too seldom seen these days. On the rare occasion when there is a problem with the service, they usually know it before I do and are already working on a fix. While I've occasionally seen cheaper deals elsewhere, I've not been tempted by them. Crosswinds feels like home, the staff like family ... there's no reason to go anywhere else.

Nice and friendly
I know very little about making a website and when I emailed them questions Jenn answered very quickly and got me going in the right direction.

Love Crosswinds
Even if they have a problem - and all hosts do at times, for whatever reason - they address it immediately, and inform their customers.

Whenever I have any issues at all, they come through for me right away to fix them or tell me what I've done to cause them so I can fix them (I'm no tech head) and I've even required some handholding at times, and Jenn or one of the Cadre people are ALWAYS there to do that for me with a smile.

You can't please everyone all the time, but in my personal opinion, Crosswinds is the best host out there. You can't beat "old fashioned" good service. I won't be going anywhere, they have my business for as long as I'm online.

The other Crosswinds?
I must have been using the other Crosswinds, either that or you people don't know if your website is live or not. We experienced downtime in hours almost every month, and when your website is down, an email address to write to just doesn't cut it.

Crosswinds has been very good
I have had an account through Crosswinds for about a year and have been very pleased with the service. There has been three times that I needed to contact them and have so far always been able to get someone fairly quickly. By looking at the other reviews it would appear to me that someone got upset and then got his buddies to post a bunch of bad reviews. If you are looking for a company for hosting then I do recommend Crosswinds. Another reviewer said there is no phone number, I don't know if there is or is not a phone number and I personally don't care... this is a web based company so contact them with e-mail!
As for price, Crosswinds is comparible. I have found one other company that provides more disk space for the same amount of money, but the service isn't as good. Of course, as time goes on and as disk space gets cheaper I would think Crosswinds will reflect this (hint hint).
Again, I am very pleased with the service and the uptime on the account is very good.

Companies do not have to big to be good.
I have been using Crosswinds for over 4 years, and have been very pleased. I was tired of outages, and no word from the provider. With Crosswinds, you hear about any problems as soon they happen, and with a full explanation.
Everytime I send an email with a question, I get an answer within 24 hours. Jenn has made this a personal thing. Even though it is business, you get the personal touch.
I know there are a lot people that do not really appreciate a good thing when they have it. I certainly do.

I appreciate Crosswinds
I went to them about 3 years ago and discussed a major problem I was having in my life, and said I couldn't pay for the service anymore, and had to leave. You know what Jenn did for me? She made arrangements with me to become a sponsored account for a year. You heard me - they gave me my account for a year, because I'd been there for years, and didn't want to leave but had no choice in the matter. Jenn was amazingly kind, said she wouldn't stand for it and not to worry about it until I got back on my feet. Who else, what other service, anywhere, would do that for someone they don't even know except by email. I didn't take advantage of them for very long but the offer was there and it took that worry away. I have been very attached to my website (very personal or I'd post in in here) and not having to lose it helped my emotional state a lot. I would love to talk to jenn on the phone but I understand that I can't. It is enough that I konw she is there to talk to by email if I need anything. If you leave your email address in a post here I will email you to talk about them if you want. Or email them at cwpro(at)crosswinds.net to ask about any questions you want.

Quit dissing Crosswinds!
I wish you dorks would quit going after Crosswinds (or one dork with several connections/friends) this is a great company. It's small, but it's been around a long time (like 10 years or something) and outlasted tons of other hosting companies. "Its ok when you pay your bill every month" - well DUH. You really expect a lot if you're not paying for your service, moron. I've been with Crosswinds since it was free - I happily went to the paid service, and I've had amazing response from them if I ever needed anything or had a concern, which wasn't often. These people work their asses off to make their customers happy, and so WHAT if they don't have a phone number. They don't have a huge call center, manned 24/7. They answer their email really quickly, and actually take the time to find an answer for you. Get a grip and quit whining - the problem with you is you expect the world for a tiny amount of money. An quit siccing your friends on them - they don't deserve your nasty comments. Crosswinds RULES.

Crosswinds Sucks
I don't know how anyone can claim these folks even have customer service. They're great so long as you pay your bill every month and don't need or want anything. Customer service is non-existant.

No phone number says it all.
The initial reviewers had it right. I guess when the folks at Crosswinds saw those they got their friends and family to post reviews. Please explain to me how you have great tech support without a phone number and no easy email options. I wanted to move a customer's site to another provider and I had all I could to just get on the customer's account page. I could not find a thing about: transfering away from Crosswinds; unlocking a domain; changing the DNS servers; or getting the necessary confirmation numbers to supply the new host with so we could get the domain transfered. This is absolutely the worst hosting service I have seen. If others have seen worse, I can't imagine what those were like.

Didn't like them
Getting answers to my questions took forever and they never failed to treat me like a three year old. Customer service skills definitely need some work.

Not the worst provider we've used, buy a far cry from the best.

Nothing special
Nothing to offer that you can't get from a million other providers for a lot less.

Average
I have a dozen hosting accounts with all kinds of different providers, and Crosswinds is about average. There are better services available for the money, and some worse ones too.

Are The Last 2 Even Members
I don't know who you are dealing with, but Crosswinds support has been amazing. Tony is extremely knowledgeable on technical issues and Jenn is the front line - she knows a lot and when something is beyond her skills, she gets Tony on it right away. She will stay on it until the problem is resolved.

My first mistake that I made was calling the billing company. They don't know the first thing about any of their customers, let alone Crosswinds other than making sure I was happy with my service and billing. Once I realized this I went to the Crosswinds site and found the Contact Us page. From there it was smooth sailing.

I will be using Crosswinds for all my hosting and have even referred a couple other people to them for hosting.

Nothing but the best
I've had nothing but the BEST experience with Crosswinds - don't know what the last 2 people were talking about. Probably not even members if you ask me - and they didn't leave their names either. Actually, you don't phone in anyway, so they're probably making it up to bring down Crosswind's excellent rating! They have direct email support, and it's quick (Jen always responds to me right away!) and always right on the money. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA++++++++++++ in my books, and I recommend them all the time.

Simple says it all
Everytime I called tech support I had to explain to them what I was talking about. Not very knowledgable people if you ask me.

Crosswinds.net--The Greatest Hosting Company I Have Ever Worked With
This is a copy of an e-Mail I just sent to the Crosswinds staff. I think it says it all

Jen,

You and Tony have always been great. You helped when I needed it, and
offered constructive critiques where due. You have often gone way
above and beyond in the level of support and assistance you have
given me, even though my account with you folks is your "bargain
basement" level account. An expression of my appreciation is long
overdue. But what does one give to someone they have never even met,
nor have any idea what they might like? The only thing I can think
of is to create a new testimonial for your company, although I do not
know where to do this at (but I will find it); and to create a page
with several very legitimate links to crosswinds to help boost your
google score.

To say that you folks have always been excellent, is nowhere near
adequate. I only wish that I could do as much for you as you for me.

Sincerely
Corey J Bryant

Crosswinds Kills...
...other hosts! This is without a doubt the best host I've ever had in all my years on the net. Sure, there are problems occasionally, but they admit to them and get them fixed pronto when they happen! Jenn knows my name - she even knows I have kids, and always asks about them when I write in. That blows my mind. I seriously feel like I'm writing to a friend when I email her. There are bigger places out there. There are no better places out there. You won't do better than Crosswinds.

Can't beat Crosswinds service!
We've been together for seven years now, through the early growing pains and server changes, through 9/11 and all that came with it, and Jenn and the fine volunteers of the CW Cadre have taught me so much, in the process of answering my "stupid questions" -- promptly and with endless good humour and helpfulness... Oh, if only every business (online or off) had the same fine approach to customer service that Crosswinds does!

Best Customer Service Available on the Net
I've been through several hosts in the past but have not changed once since I joined Crosswinds back in...geez, when was that...'98? '99? Anyway, its been awhile.

Every time I have a question whether seemingly stupid or not it is treated like any super important question. Jenn Callum is always very quick to respond and does so completely and professionally and with something you don't get too often from anyone anymore...friendliness. She is SO friendly its like emailing a buddy to ask a question.

I don't have any interaction really with the rest of the team but undoubtedly they are doing a fantastic job or all of us that are current subscribers wouldn't be so pleased!

GO CROSSWINDS, YOU ROCK!

THE BEST - what else can be said?
I have worked with Tony and Jenn for several years now and they are both great individuals, very dedicated and technically excellent. They are always ready to help out with problems and make suggestions. The improvements they have made to crosswinds over the years is incredible.

I hope they keep up the good work and only wish the spammers, etc. would leave them alone and make their life easier. A lot of the work they must do is cause by these creeps.
