Such a Rip Off
This dtv has got to be the worst thing they have ever made. I tried to hook my grandmother's box up and it wouldn't even pick up none of the local channels, only 3 off the wall channels. As for mine, everytime the weather gets bad, it loses signal or freezes up. Right now, my local channels have lost signal and i don't even know why and it's the same with my mothers. They have got to come up with something better than this.

Poor singal reception
I just hooked my dtv converter box to my tv that showed a beautiful analog picture. Now I get a beautiful picture that freezes or loses its signal every 3 seconds; it's impossible to watvh a tv program. Furthermore, the government needs to tell everyone receiving a coupon for a converter that you need to buy another antenna that receives a high frequency signal. Otherwise, the picture will go out or freeze up.
Also, if those satelites became damaged we the American citizens will not be able to see what is going on (no satelite no tv or radio signal). We have allowed the government to put us in a big big big mess.

No converter boxes - Expired
I received my cards in the mail, but local vendors out of stock sold out for MONTHS. Who bought them, everybody I know has the same problem. Our local Wal-Mart finally got some more converter boxes in but now my cards are expired. Tried to re-apply ... denied ... each time tried to appeal ... session expired. Who's making the money on this?

What corruption!
My application was denied. I appealed, and heard nothing. I appealed again, and heard nothing. I sent several emails, and heard nothing. I finally called. After many tries, and a long hold, I finally got through. I was told that my address was denied, and that I was not eligible for coupons, but he didn't know why.

He recommended that I just use a different address, then he hung up on me. What a great message!
"We are the government. We don't really care enough to fix our problems, but if you would only be willing to just feed us convincing lies, we could work with those instead."

Hmmm, I wonder why we are in this credit mess?

government scam
recieved my coupons in april, went to radio shack, they didnt have the converter boxes in so i had to order them. received them by mail in june, had to pay postage plus the amount the coupon didnt cover. i am a senior citizen and not good with electronics so i asked my son when he was in town to hook one up for me. he did but then we could not program the remote control. went to radio shack to get some pointers and was told i needed a new antenna so i paid 35.00 for one, thought the problem would be solved, still no luck in converting. can't afford cable or one of those new fangled tvs (besides the 2 tvs i have are in good condition so it would be a waste to get rid of them. i don't know what i am gonna do, i guess i will just have to listen to radio after february. so far i spent 82.00. i wonder if there are technicans out there who hook these things up for a fee.

Not making the public aware of all the problems
The coupons are really a tax rebate. Where else could our government aquire money. So when we go to use them, we are charged a sales tax on that amount. This is a tax on a tax. Makes no sence. Many stores ran out and the coupons expired. Most people didn't realize there was an experation date on the coupons. WHY should those coupons expire? Those are a form of our tax money so how can our own money expire?
No stores in my area sell those boxes for less than $50. Some for a lot more. With all the problems with the economy, why is the government forcing us all to waste money on this digital convert stuff now. Put it off untill the economy is better and people can afford this nonsence.
Many old rabbit ear TV sets do not have a place in the back for those converter connectors. Many TV sets in vehicals are not accessable with those converter boxes and they are all 120V. Cars are 12 Volts. I recently gave my son a small portable TV with only built in rabbit ears. Now what? Most small portable TV's only have built in attenas. Now what? Why not tell people about the problems with connecting a converter box to a VCR/DVD recorder. Can not watch one station and record another anymore unless you use two converter boxes and real lot of cables.

Never Received AT ALL
I did just like they said. I do have a PO Box for mail. I went back and reapplied using my street address in August. It was approved. Nothing was received by OCT 2008. I e-mailed them and they said it could take longer than 2 months to receive. Its now the end of NOV 2008. NO coupons. I recently went on their website/checked my REF#. The coupons were deactivated or cancelled or something like that. This shows I never received them as they were not used. It said I could reapply for one (confusion thinks I only was sent one??)and when I did denied me due to already having received 2 coupons. Its like this maze they send you looping around and you never get anywhere. How do I know they sent them out. I put in another appeal. Is anybody else not receiving coupons at all

DTV2009.gov Complaint
Given the reason for the coupons is to provided financial relief to people who otherwise might not be able to afford the change, the restrictions they have make no sense. I applied for the coupons early but discovered they had a short 3 month expiration limit. I did not want to spend money before I needed to since I am fairly poor, - basically in Jan 2009. So when I reapplied for new coupons recently, I was denied. They will not issue more than 2 coupons max per household, ever. So by being frugal, I have been completely denied the coupons. The coupons therefore basically end up being a bonus for people who can already afford it better than others, which I find to be ridiculous.

No converter boxes to be found
I received my cards in the mail, but when I went to buy a converter box, the stores in my area were sold out for MONTHS. Our local Wal-Mart finally got some more converter boxes in but now my cards are expired. What a rip-off!

reception
I can get the local channels perfect off my rabbit ear antenna. When ever i hook them up through the box it show little or no signal. So I guess you have to buy a big antenna to be able to aquire a signal.

coupon expired ???
I requested my coupons early, I did not even open the envelope, after all, I would not need them until Feb 2009. Imagine my shock when, on
September 13th,(which still seemed early to me) I was preparing to use
my coupons and they had expired ??? What is the point of the coupons being good for such a limited time??? Why wasn't it point out that you have to use them quickly ??? Why would people think they had to be used immediately when the change does not happen until Feb 09???...What a joke!...typical government incompetence

Invalid Cards
I had forgotten to use my cards till the exact date printed on the cards. I presented to my local Wal Mart at 11:15 p.m. that evening only to discover the cards to be DECLINED! I went to my vehicle and called the numbers at 11:30 p.m. and entered my card numbers and was told that they were "still valid". After 24 attempts to get thru to the 888-388-2009 number during the next day (today), I was finally successful this evening. HOWEVER, I was told that I needed to call 6A-6P Pacific time to speak to a customer service rep! Of the 3 reps I unleased on, one wanted to know why I did not ask to speak to a rep when I called!! They never even listened to my frustration! What idiots. The first rep even told me essentially too bad, you only get one chance with the cards. SO I tried to send an email as suggested ONLY to discover that the email address they provide on the voice system is INVALID!! My email did not get thru! Believe you me I am prepared to go to my congressional reps and any other persons that will listen and can spur action. AND THEN THEY (CUSTOMER SERVICE REPS) TELL ME THEY UNDERSTAND MY FRUSTRATION!...no they don't!

?Mismailed coupons
My problem is where are my coupons I ordered on 3-29-08. As the application wouldn't take a PO Box for a mailing address I never received my coupons. As the area I live in has streets, drives and lanes all with the same address numbers it's easy for the mail man to deliver the coupons to the wrong address. In addition to that, I live in an area where winter visitors live and they are gone for 6 months of the year to their summer residences. So there is no way to know where the coupons ended up. I have now been told that the coupons are expired. So where does that leave me? The only way to contact Dtv2009 is thru mail, one cannot talk to a person to see what their options are. So do I now have to spend the full price for the converter to watch TV or will the original coupons be reissued? I have sent off a letter requesting the coupons be reissued. If & when I hear from Dtv2009 on this matter I'll review my review.

Coupon fraud
This is actually a complaint. I was duked by one of the retailers while looking for a reasonable DTV converter. I went and visited all sites out on DTV2009.gov website. One of them did not post their shipping and handling on their site, so I went through the avenues to find out what their shipping was (did not confirm buying the product) and found out that the minute you enter the information off your DTV coupon card into a website, it is automatically used. So I got taken by one of the retailers, by entering my card number to find out what the shipping was and that voided my cards. So now I don't have cards or converter. I just wnated someone to know, that now I have to spend the full price to get one if I want one.
