Imre Kalanyos, the author of "From the Rill to the Ocean" was born in Hungary in 1941. The village of his birth Sivo, ruined during WWII and lter relocated on the flood plane of a little creek in a segregated area of Gordisa, vanished without a trace - and forever. The people of his village called themseves "Beash." They were known to most Hungarians as Gypsies.
In Hungary, discriminated against as a minority, he was disheartened. Disappointed by the Communist system's failure to integrate people of his community into Hungarian society, Imre, at age twenty-six, decided to escape from his native country and to seek Freedom and Equality in America.
Because it was illegal to leave the country, his escape was demanding and dangerous. On one hand, if caught during his planning stage of his escape, he would have faced imprisionment and would have been black-listed for life. On the other hand, if cought during his escape, he could have been killed. Aware of this but encoureged by Ady Endre's poem "From the Rill to the Ocean" Imre told himself, LIVE FREE OR DIE."

It was only a matter of time before eBay got some compitishon and it's ebid .Forget the old ebid site the new updated site is now worth you checking out it's so much better, so if you are sick of giving a big chunk your much needed earnings to eBay then it's time for you to give ebid a try.
Out of all the lesser known sites around ebid stands out as the best deal imo, And as the 2nd biggest UK auction site it's still at number #1 on ukebid.co.uk site list.
I've not gave it 5 stars just yet as it needs more sellers and buyers so you reading this please join up so i can give it 5 stars.
Trust me ebid is the new ebay.

Like many other people sick to death of eBay's constant fee hikes, & lack of customer service, I decided to look elsewhere, & found eBid.
The forums are helpful, and the site owners hands on, which means you post a query & it's answered very quickly.
At the moment the site is growing quickly, it could do with more buyers but the number HAS increased quite significantly in the last couple of months & is continuing to do so steadily.
It has also increased the number of countries where it its available. The USA, Canadian & Australian sites are growing quickly, the mainland European sites are still in their infancy.
They are adding new features all of the time, with many more in the pipeline, they also listen to members suggestions, & incorporate many of them, so the site feels more like it belongs to you.
The number of categories has increased to a level which looks close to rivaling ebay, & if you can't find the one you need, there is a place in the forum just for requesting new ones.
They don't allow the selling of ebooks, which at a stroke cuts out many of the feedback building scams prevelent on eBay.
The site is about to undergo a professional re-design which hopefully will be more attractive to newcomers, this should be ready in the next few weeks.
Because of lower fee's most items can be found cheaper on eBid, than on eBay.
Membership is categorised in 4 levels
Bronze - buyer only
Silver - buyer & seller free listing, unless features are chosen, very small fvf (currently 3%).
Gold - subscription based membership, which can be paid for weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly, or, a lifetime Gold for a one-off payment (currently it's just under £45.00)
As a Gold member you can open a store, the first one is free, subsequent ones £1.99 a month.
You can choose free listing or add a gallery picture which does incur a small fvf (more information on this under platinum)
Recently a new Platinum level of membership has been added, one of the benefits of this is being able to have an unlimited number of shops/stores for free, another is the Run til Sold Store Inventory Format, again with no listing fees.
Gallery fees (if you choose to use it) are only charged when an item is sold not every 30 or 90 days the way eBay does, they are charged at a % fvf (currently 2%)
The cost of Platinum Lifetime Membership sounds high at just under £150, but existing Gold members were able to upgrade to this level for a very small fee, & in the majority of cases free.
If their track record is anything to go by eBid will run special promotions on the Platinum Life membership price from time to time.
Unlike eBay, Shop/Store Listings are not hidden they show in all searches, as well as browse stores, in fact all stores (other than those with adult content) are randomly featured on the frontpage (no charge for this either).
Adult goods are kept separate from other listings & not included in searches unless you choose to do so.
This information also applies to www.ebid.net & www.ebid.tv Summary: Free Listing Low FVF does work - eBid the place to be

Hi,
I am a member (buyer and seller) in several auction sites (ebid, ebay, QXL.com, amazon etc) but I'd just like to say out of every auction site I have came across so far - ebid is the best!
The first distinct advantage it has is that its FREE!
Yes you read it right - you can sell an item on there without paying any listing, selling or membership fees. Even opening up your own shops free! You do have options where you can upgrade your listings much like ebay but the prices are so cheap I upgrade on every auction. (2% final value for gallery or 40p for a FRONT PAGE FEATURED AUCTION!). I dont have to worry about relisting my items as I have an option that does it for me automatically. This is all rather unlike ebay where I pay around 15% of my total income to them (after listing, final value and gallery fees). So should I give an auction site £15 out of every £100 I sell or use another, in my opinion better auction site, and have the option to list for free or have features in my auctions for £2 cost for every £100 I sell. Not forgetting that even if your items dont sell on ebay, you still had to pay to list them in the first place - so potentially you could list 100 different items (20p just to list) but only sell 3. You'd then be out of pocket as you would still have to cough up the listing fee.
Ebid is fabulous for first time sellers - as its so easy to get started, excellent for now and then sellers - as you can just leave listings on there until they sell, and would be of major benefit to business sellers - think of how much money you'd save over 100's of auctions!
But equally as good for buyers - as the sellers dont have to pay ridiculous fees the buyer gets a bargain as sellers on ebid can afford to sell items cheaper than they do elsewhere.
The second main advantage for buyers and sellers is the level of support ebid offers! It is run by Gazza and Mark - both of whom must never get any sleep! Virtually as soon as a question is posed to them they are on the case straight away with an answer, this also includes any requests for help left on the forums - they are on the ball all the time! I have been with ebid for at least 4 years as a seller and in that time I have never had to wait more than a couple of hours to one of my many questions left at the support desk or on the forums. Other sites have left me 'dangling' for over a week for similar questions!
The ebid forum is the friendliest, and has the most well behaved community, I have ever come across - in auction sites and elsewhere. The people on there go out of their way to help you with any problems you may come across, have great ideas on how to add extras to your auctions and how to promote your auctions outside of ebid.
Its layout and design is wonderful, being simple to use, follow and understand. And the links actually lead to where they are supposed to go! (shock horror - none of that annoying re-direction as with some other auction sites).
Problematic people are dealt with quickly and efficiently - when people are deliberatley selling fakes trying to pass them off as real in their auctions they are investigated quickly and given the flick if they are in the wrong (unlike some other auction sites that make too much money from scores of these people who inflict the buying community with £1000's of useless junk fakes every year).
Another good point about ebid is that it 'hides' all adult items from normal searches. This gives you the option of wether you want to be seeing porn movies or all manner of bondage gear in you innocent daily searches. If its these products you are looking for then you click on a button to confirm you want to see them, them confirm that you are over 18. I find this feature particularily useful when I let the kids search for things - at least I know they wont come across things they shouldnt be.
You can set up your first shop for free! You can sell in it for free! You can put as many items in it as you want for free!
What more incentive could you need? Sign up today! Membership is FREE!
