 Shilo Inn welcomes weary travelers
i'm writing this letter to inform you as to how i was treated at your holiday inn express hotel in moses lake wa. i am also putting this on the internet for Shilo Inn in appreciation for their service and friendliness towards me. first, some background. i'm in the process of moving from NW WA to central Montana. this incident happened on march 28th, friday 2008, around 3:00pm. i arrived at moses lake after leaving montana at 6:30am that day. i had dealt with two snow storms and a third just started. Snoqualmie Pass was closed due to accidents. so when i arrived at moses lake, i had had enough snow and icy roads for the day. i looked around for a nice hotel so i could "pamper" myself. i pulled into the holiday inn express hoping to find a room. i walked in looking as a person would after battling the weather all day-weary,tired and just plain exhausted. i asked about a room. the man behind the counter informed me that the rooms there were very expensive. he suggested that i should go to one of your other hotels or that i should go across the street, i would get a "better deal for my dollar". this remark caught me totally off guard. i asked if he could give me the number or call another hotel for me before i left to make sure there was a room available and he said, "i don't have their number, we're not affiliated". so i left. i felt insulted and extremly embarassed by your employees remarks. how does he know what i can or cannot afford or was i just not presentable enough to walk through your doors? i wouldn't have choosen your hotel if i could not have afforded it. i went over to Shilo Inn and was greeted very warmly. they accommodated me with a king size bed and very comfortable room on the main floor as i couldn't climb the stairs, due to injured kness, to the room she was going to assign me. the next morning when i was checking out, i was handed a card and she inquired on my stay with them. that's when i told her about what had happened to me at the holiday inn express. she was shocked. inside the envelope was a thankyou card and appreciation plus a discount coupon to be used at their hotel. a couple of days after i got home i recieved from Shilo Inn a thankyou letter and some brochures showing where other Shilo Inn's are located. even the person at the missoula mt Days Inn was very cordial to me during this trip. i had stopped there before and he remembered me and asked if i liked the room i had before and i said yes. he gave me the same room-a nice king size bed-and at the same price as before. so this is just to let you know that in the future, i will not be staying at any of your holiday in express hotels or affiliates and i will make sure to inform my friends likewise if this is th kind of reception you give your clientel. just a thought, don't judge people by their outwardly appearance because you never know what they can afford. i can't thank Shilo Inn enough for taking me in and making me feel welcome and comfortable. i've also recieved a call from the director of corporate sales for Shilo Inn letting me know that if i ever need assistance to call her personally and again thanking me for staying with them. THANKYOU SHILO INN, i WILL be back! chris kaaland sedro woolley, wa
