hi, I'm 17 years old and I was caught shoplifting with a friend at a kohls in new jersey. She's 18. We both took things but she didn't get caught because as we were in the store she gave me the bag to hold, and when we got caught I had the bag not her. We got caught because the tags stayed in the fitting room. An employee came out and asked us to go into this office where they asked us our information and they called my mother. the police was not involved. it was about 194 dollars worth of things. the man told me I MAY receive a fine in the mail, but I'm confused. I know what I did was wrong and I so much wish I can go back in time and take it back. it was the first time I ever do such a thing and I promise it is my last. I was influenced and gave in to peer pressure and now I'm the one being charged with everything and now my "friend". Is it for sure that I will be getting the notice in the mail? and what's going to happen to me after this. Will this go on my permanent record? please help me. I feel so guity. All I do is cry and I know I deserve to feel like this because what I did was wrong. I feel like I let my mother down. Will these affect me looking for jobs in the future? and in a couple days I start college at a private school.. will this be affected?
