Do be or not Doobie Brother?
I recently heard a rumor that the Doobie Brothers were inducted into the R&R Hall of Fame. It seems that it did not matter that the name was in fact stolen from a shipmate of Mike Hossack after the two had entered
into an agreement for use. The author had created the name to describe a certain situation in the midship radioroom of the Uss Independence in the late 1960's. Mike followed him out of the room and asked permission to use the name. The author asked this question. If you make any money with the name, do I get my share? Mike agreed by saying quote " You got it man, no problem, you got it man! What the author got was his intellectual property stolen and passed off as belongin to someone else. To this day the grudge is still held. He wrote a poem telling the story entitled " Brother can you spare a dime" which can be read @www.poetry.com it tells the true story of how the name truly came to be. Check it out I think you'll find it quite interesting as well as informative.

35 Years for this satisfied reader
My 8th grade teacher go me hooked on the Times with a student subscription 35 years ago. Wherever I have lived around the USA, after finding housing, my next goal was to find where I could buy the NY Times.
