Class action waiting to happen..., Thursday, January 17, 2008 @ 3:10:00 PM
We got service when the company was still DirecWay and had no problems with it then. After Hughes took over, it has been nothing but a nightmare! I don't remember getting notified of the Fair Access Policy (FAP) - what a joke. As other reviewers have stated, exceed your allowed download limit for the day and you're basically without service for 24 hours. Yesterday I tried downloading an update to my iPhone (162.1 mbs) and almost had it downloaded when I lost satellite service. I started it again and hit that ridiculous ceiling of 225 mbs which stalled the download. I called the company - another joke - spoke to Wen(?) for whom English is clearly not a first language and got the run around. Despite the fact that the daily limit was exceeded because of losing the satellite signal (their fault!), I now have to wait until 5:00 this evening to try again. I was told that Hughes offered unlimited downloads between 2:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. I'm not getting up in the middle of the night just to download something. My advice: don't be taken in by their slick ads and promises. Once you sign on the dotted line, you're in internet hell until your contract expires or you buy it out. Dial up is better and much cheaper. Avoid the stress and save your money. These people are shysters of the first order!!!
