After I placed my order for 20 GPS units from Deal Extreme, one of their reps call me up and ask me for my account password so she can verify my order.

I'm not sure which school of business she went to, but I'm sure none of them will tell you to ask customers for their password, and I DON'T GIVE MY PASSWORDS TO ANYONE!!! How dare they ask!

When that failed, she then asks me to send a copy of my drivers license and passport! Like WTF? With all of the identity theft in this country you expect me to just send you my personal records? Get real!!!
She then says its for my own security. I'm sorry, giving out my password, drivers license, and passport is NOT secure.

So after I refused to comply with her requests, I get an email about 30 minutes later notifying me that they have cancelled my order.

So basically if I want to buy something from this company, I have to first provide them with all the information they need to steal my identity, or they won't sell me anything?

Ridiculous!

I had a problem with my simply accounting today. The file was corrupt and would not open.
I emailed eTech recovery to see if they could help me. They indicated they could and the price seemed reasonable.
Within 2 hours, I had my recovered file, and it was done for the price they quoted me.
I am very happy with their service, and highly recommend them.

I wasn't very happy with the quality of "likes" I got from this company.

The majority of the likes I got were from Georgia (the Country, not the State). Georgia isn't event an English speaking country and the Average income in that country according to the CIA World fact book is $5900.

The claim on their site of facebook fans being worth $4.60 might be true if they were from North America, but these fans are worth nothing.

I've been messing around with the Tim Tang Test for about a week now, and have made it to level 27. While I enjoy a challenge, I think for the general public, the test will be way to hard.
If you want to give it a shot, then be prepared to pull out some hair.
A couple of hints to get you on your way... be sure to look at the source code of every page as there are sometimes clues in there. If you don't know how to do that, you will never solve some of the puzzles. If you get a "wrong answer" page, check the source code there too as there are hidden answers in there.
Sometimes the music/audio is a clue so be sure to play that if you have turned audio off.
Good Luck.

I have bought items from chapters/indigo several times without any problems. If you order multiple items and they don't have all of the items in stock, they will ship the items they do have in stock before the out of stock items so that you don't have to wait for the entire order. I'm quite happy with their service, and will order from them again.

Be prepared to loose your money. They entice you with a simple "Can you spot the difference in these photos" gimmic. Call from your land line or cell phone ($2 per call) if you know the answer.
Sounds simple enough. the catch is, they say they "Randomly" choose a caller to participate. So when you call, the system informs you that your call was not selected... please try again. Of course if you call again, it will cost you another $2.
Meanwhile the host of the show is making it sound like no callers have gotten through with the correct answer, but in reality, either someone already has, and they just haven't put them on the air yet or everyone is still "Randomly" getting regected by the system.
Either way they are probably raking in thousands of dollars from callers that are being charged $2 per call because they are not being "Randomly" selected.
I watched these antics for at least 5-10 minutes, then almost miraculously a caller managed to make it through during the final seconds... doesn't sound very random to me. Seems pre-planned, and schemish. Shame on CallTV.com for duping people out of their hard earned money.
They fooled me once, so I'm writing this to warn others. Don't be fooled!!

Here you can find all the different types and styles of heaters. One of the most popular form of portable heating is a heater fan. These devices work by generating heat in the room you place it, then using a fan that pushes that heat out of the unit. Quickly and efficiently, these heaters are able to heat an entire room.

There was a surprise in the movie that I did not see coming that helped make the movie even better :) During a summer when most of the other romantic comedies haven't been either, "Crazy, Stupid, Love" provides a fairly smart and sensible date-night choice.

Overall, I think Microsoft has a lot of good products. Unfortunately due to their popularity, a lot of hackers target Microsoft products because so many people use them, which ultimately makes Microsoft look bad.

That being said though, I find their products are often way over priced. Especially in today's world of open source code.

This product is a piece of crap, and the GiSTEQ customer service is even worse.

We ordered 20 of these GPS units from GiSTEQ about 2 months ago, and right now, only about 7 of them actually work. The rest all give us Errors when we plug them in.

I have called them several times regarding the situation and have never received a phone call back from them.

Due to the new no spray laws in my city, people are forced to deal with weeds and dandelions the old fashioned way. I had originally bought some inexpensive yardman weed remover, but found it was awkward and well, not very good. It would pull the weed fine, but then getting the weed off the tool was a pain.

So I took that back and got the Fiskars Deluxe Telescopic Stand-Up Weeder... and WOW what a difference. I could pull a weed and eject it it in one quick motion in about 1-2 seconds.

It was double the price of the one I originally bought, but worth every penny.

When I bought my house, I was charged something like $11,000 in Premiums from Genworth on a $150,000 mortgage. I personally think they took advantage of the situation I was in, so shame on them.

After many people I spoke to regarding this they said they had never heard of anyone paying such a high premium for their mortgage and I should have some one look into it to see if a mistake was made.

When I spoke with Genworth, I was pretty much told too bad... you knew what you were getting into when you signed the documents.

32. 407etr.com Monday, November 03, 2008 @ 4:49:00 PM
I would never recommend the 407 ETR as an alternative route to ANYONE! My Girlfriend bought a new car, and when we went to register the license plates we were told she owed a astonishing $7,000 for past 407 usage and interest.

When we called to investigate, we were told that until we pay the balance, she would be denied license plate renewal and she cannot get any new plates. And to top it off, until the balance is paid, they will continue to charge 26% interest. Talk about literal HIGHWAY ROBBERY!

When I tried to negotiate payment with them, and they say "WE DO NOT NEGOTIATE". They also claim that they do not acknowledge bankruptcy either... so even if she were to claim bankruptcy she would still owe the money, and would still be denied plates.

EXCEPTIONAL HARDSHIP PLAN
*********************************************************************
407 ETR offers an "Exceptional Hardship Plan" to assist customers that have accumulated significant outstanding tolls and fees and who would suffer "exceptional hardship" through the denial of their vehicle licence plate. However, in order to qualify for this, you would obviously have to live in the middle of no where because the plan is not available to customers for whom the following apply:

1) Alternative transportation is available, including public transportation

WHO in any major metropolitan area such as the GTA does not have access to public transportation... That would be no one!

2) Arrangements can be made to do without the vehicle that is subject to plate denial

Well, actually it's not just "the vehicle"... It's ANY vehicle that you may own or want to own, or even think about owning! But if you follow Rule 1, anyone that can use public transportation CAN live without a vehicle!

3) Renting or finding a replacement vehicle is possible

Anyone with a valid drivers license and a credit card can rent a car! Some car rentals agencies will even let you rent a car without a credit card.

So who really qualifies for the "Exceptional Hardship Plan"? From what I have interpreted this to mean... A hobbit that lives in a shack in the rocky mountains, that most likely never used the 407 in the first place.

What a F***ing JOKE!

We've stayed at the Hilton (Niagara) twice. Our first time everything was good except they charged us for parking even though we didn't require it. They said its a standard charge unless we tell them that we don't need it. It was refunded when we fussed about it.

The beds are VERY comfortable, and our suite had folding doors that joined the Bathroom to the main suite.

However, the second time was horrible. When we first arrived after a 2 hour drive, we used the bathroom facilities, and the toilet didn't flush. So I went to call down to reception, and the phone didn't work. So I had to go down to reception to let them know about the problems. We went out for the evening, and those issues were resolved by the time we got back.

Just like the first time, we slept well. Did I mention the beds are comfortable?

Then in the morning, when we got up, I tried to make coffee, and the coffee maker wasn't working. It would spit out a little bit each time I tried, but after 5 attempts, I only got a quarter cup and finally gave up on it.

When you are spending a couple hundred dollars per night, you expect things to go smoothly. But after 3 mishaps in one visit, I would expect a little more than "I'm sorry" when checking out.

37. ultradns.com Sunday, June 29, 2008 @ 12:02:00 PM
Ultra DNS has been trying to get me to use their services for some time now. Over the phone their initial quote seemed reasonable. But then when I received the contract to sign, I did the math and it would end up costing me 10x their initial quote. I brought this to their attention, and they said they misunderstood my requirements and that with their new understanding of my requirements, it would cost 2x their initial quote.

They sent me a revised contract and when I reviewed that contract, it still didn't meed my stated requirements and it would still end up costing me 8x the original quote.

So ultimately, I'm glad I read both agreements before I signed. I will definitely not be using their services no matter what the cost.

I recently moved ALL of my email accounts over to Gmail. I'm not sure what my favorite gmail feature would be, because there are so many. I think the Labels might be on the top of my list. With colored labels I can color code each of my email addresses with a different color, and display emails from only that email. Because I can add multiple labels to each email I can also easily identify emails that I have received about a specific topic or from a certain person.

Gmail has lots of storage so I can archive all my old mail for future lookups. An easy search feature lets you search archives, and their spam filtering is very accurate.

I definitely prefer Gmail over the other free mail services I have tried.

We recently took our car into Nissan for service because the check engine light was on. $99 for them to just check the code(s). They check it and say needs a coil pack. We say go a head and fix it. Then they come back and say the light wont go off, we need an IAC valve as well. But they will have to do another $99 diagnostic to make sure and give us a price, because that could cause other problems. I later called back to confirm to go ahead with that and spoke to someone else that was not familiar with what was going on so she had to recap everything from what was written down.

So in her recall she said they had pulled 3 codes. So I'm thinking What the hell? They said they only did one diagnostic so far, and pulled 3 codes but they only told me about one. And still haven't been told what the third one is... so are they waiting for me to fix the second one to spring the third code?

We have taken our car to Waterloo nissan a few times and EVERY time has not been pleasant. I don't know how they were rated #! 7 years in a row, but they definitely would not have been getting my vote for it.

I was a little reluctant to buy Cold-FX at first because I thought it was a little expensive. But after taking it, I think it was worth every penny.

I started feeling a cold coming on around Thursday, so I went out and bought Cold-FX and started taking it as directed right away. Today is Sunday, and during the past 3 days, I still had some symptoms of a cold, but they didn't seem as severe as they would normally be, and at times I almost felt like I didn't have a cold. I only felt under the weather twice, and took a short 1 hour nap each time and felt nice and refreshed when I woke up.

So out of all the colds I have had in my life, I would have to say this has been the most pleasant one. Can this be attributed to Cold-FX? I can't be certain because this was only my first time trying it, but I sure think it helped.

46. equifax.com Tuesday, February 05, 2008 @ 2:59:00 PM
Personally I think companies like Equifax are a JOKE! They make it virtually impossible for people starting out, or those that pay cash to ever get a credit rating. And it just gives financial companies an excuse to charge haigher interest rates, and they directly impact the financial sector of the US and Canada. Financial Companies love to use the excuse... you have no credit history so we cannot give you credit. What a load of crap!

A couple month back I was informed by my credit card company that they would be increasing the interest rate on my credit card by to 14.25% because of my credit rating. This infuriated me so I did some digging and ordered a personal credit report from Equifax. Equifax does not keep records for more than 6 years, so the results of my report for the past 6 years were... I had absolutely no late payments, and ALL of my credit accounts were paid as agreed and up-to-date. For this I was awarded with a FICO score of 713, which apparently is NOT that great. According to their statistics, at least 56% of the population has a better score than I do.

So, if keeping credit in good standing for 6 years, gets you a less than Average score. Then what the hell does it take to get a great score?

To add to this, I was informed today from a company I had an existing lease with for 3 years that I would not be able to get a new lease with them because Equifax had no history on my company. Like WTF? Again... I was never late on ANY of my payments during the full 3 years of my lease. So why is there no record of that with Equifax?

Like if you are going to impair someones credit every time they make a late payment, they should most certainly also be rewarded for when they are NEVER late.

60. prohostingsolutions.com Friday, August 24, 2007 @ 12:39:00 PM
I have had several sites hosted with tophostingsolutions.com for a few years and, up until recently, the service was good enough for the low price I was paying (decent uptime, terrible customer support... the usual tradeoff). HOWEVER, going on two days now, all of my sites are down in addition to their seemingly being no trace of either prohostingsolutions.com or tophostingsolutions.com (both sites as well as a couple other sister sites are completely down as well). I've tried contacting their parent companies Somelogic.net as well as Carmosa.com but to no avail. My emails to tech support are going unreturned. Additionally, and perhaps most telling of all, is that a couple weeks back I received a message from "WelcomeToGlobattophostingsolutions.com" saying, in essence, that tophostingsolutions.com is now a member of the Globat hosting family, look forward to uninterrupted service, your billing transferred over to globat... blah blah blah. Unfortunately, when I contacted both customer service and the tech department at Globat.com, they have absolutely no record of any of my sites or any sort of mass acquisition/assumption of service for any of SomeLogic's (tophostingsolutions, prohostingsolutions, etc.) hosting companies. I will say, at least, that Globat's support department was extremely helpful in helping me weed through this mess. So, in short, if any of the ISPs listed at somelogic.net (tophostingsolutions.com, et al) ever come back online and begin offering services again, I would SERIOUSLY reconsider choosing them as your ISP. I'd cancel all of my accounts with them but can't even reach their website let alone the billing dept.

I agreed a to buy a site through Bensons, just before completion, I discovered that the description of the site was not factually correct on at least two counts. Despite the fact that what they had done could be a criminal offence which could result in a prosecution through the courts, Bensons attitude was unrepentant aggressive and rude. In my opinion they are not trustworthy, reliable or even honest. A complaint has been made to trading standards

My Grandmother, who suffered from Parkinson Disease for over 30 years, died on Friday. It was her wish to "Go home to Heaven" so she could be at peace, and end her suffering. She will be missed by all of us.

Although Parkinson's doesn't directly affect the brain physically, it does emotionally. Without medication, Parkinson's can immobilize you, leaving you helpless and requiring the assistance of others.

Hopefully one day researchers will fully understand what causes it, and will be able to cure it.

Nice site, the dishes in the photos look mmm, mmm, delicious. I'm not vegan, and well not even vegetarian. But I don't eat meat 3 days a week I find it's hard to walk into a restaurant sometimes and order a veggie dish. Some restaurants only have veggie dish and most offer stuff like Chicken or Beef Stir-Fry, but no veggie. Like how hard would it be to have dishes like veggie stir-fry (Add chicken or beef $3). East Side Mario's even has a Chicken and Broccoli pasta dish marked as vegetarian... hmm, last I checked chicken was not a vegetable.
So anyhow, it's nice to see a site like Lauren's where I can get some cool veggie ideas.

I got my Golden Eagle Bike Engine a month ago. It is the 32cc Tanaka unit. I already have over 1400 miles on my bike. It is a Sun EZ speedster CX with a fairing. I use it instead of the car for most trips and I can go as fast as 38 MPH on the flats. I had spoke failure of the rear wheel at about 1200 miles. It was the original wheel with a 36 spokes. Hit a pothole and that was that. Listen to GEBE and get their wheel. The bike gets lots of attention and is way too much fun. Nothing like pulling into a gas station and paying for 1 gallon of gas and going 200 miles with that gallon. I would recommend this system to anyone who is planning on using their bikes for commuting. It will save you money and you will have so much fun riding that you may take little side trips to make your time on the bike last longer. If you are thinking of getting one of these bike engines, think no more.just do it. You will have fun and will save money. Guaranteed!

So last night we decided to go grab a bite to eat, I stopped off at Craby Joes in Kitchener to see what they have on the menu... So I grab a menu and spend about 3 minutes looking at that before anyone even even approaches me. Then a girl comes up and Says "Just looking at the menu?" I say "No, actually I'm trying to see what vegitarian dishes you have" She says OK and walks away.

So I'm standing there thinking... hmm, she was real helpful. So I figured fine, if there not even willing to help me before I'm seated, they are definitely not getting my business. So we ended up going to the Red Papaya instead.

96. investools.com Thursday, May 10, 2007 @ 9:31:00 AM
I had heard about the Investools package a couple of times in the past, and had attended 2 different sessions of their overview seminar, which I believe was a 2-hour session. I attended one at the Hyatt Regency in Knoxville probably 8-9 years ago, and another in Chattanooga about 4 years ago. It always looked great, but I never had the $5-6K (supposedly 50% off the $10K package) that was offered at the end.
However, I did check it out online somewhat, and found a lot of negative comments, sprinkled with a few positive ones.

Then, a couple of weeks ago I attended a SUCCESS Magazine "Get Motivated" Seminar in Knoxville, TN, where a lot of name-brand folks talked on motivation, success tactics, etc. I had already picked up Phil Town's book "Rule #1 Investing" a couple of months before, and had read it with interest, and was somewhat delightfully surprised that he was on the agenda.

I agree with Phil's investing ideas, but was dismayed to see part of his talk turn into a commercial for the Investools toolbox. Even though I was disappointed, I felt like the name-brand folks on the same stage would not have been associated with Investools if it was a scam. Also, it was being offered for $1495, something I could afford. Made me wonder if there ever was a standard price, or if it was whatever the traffic would bear at the time.. So, I signed up for the two-day class to be taught in Knoxville on 5/9-10/2007, knowing that would give me a few days to check it out beforehand. Additionally, they offered a full-access login to the software on a trial basis. So, I could fiddle with the software and have time to research comments before the 2-day session, knowing I had to make a decision before the end of the first day.

They reiterated time and time again, that even though they were requiring a credit card to be on file during the trial, that they wouldn't process the card until the end of the first day, when the decision had to be made.

I did my research online, and found hundreds of negative messages about Investools tactics, bait and switch requiring much more costly training, etc. etc. But I did find a few (very few!) positive comments. And, when looking at timestamps, I discovered a lot of the negatives were in late 2006, early 2007 timeframe. Unfortunately, this signaled that they might still be up to their old tricks.

I also discovered that there have been over 200,000 people take this class and use these tools. My usage during the trial only showed up about 20-30 stocks (out of 14,000 that you can scan) that met the criteria for Rule #1 investing with the parameters they said were "safe". I wondered if all 200,000 people were fighting over these 20-30 stocks - not a good scenario..

So, I took some precautions before I went to the 2-day class - transferring most of the funds from my debit card account (the number I gave them) into a savings account. I purposely got it way down below the $1495 figure, and also called my bank, so that if they tried something, it would be rejected. I have the ability to transfer funds over the phone and figured if it was legit, I would call, transfer some money into the account, and let them swipe the transaction for $1495 at the end of the first day.

I arrived at the seminar right at the start, and was told by the nametag person that there was something wrong with my account (must have transposed a digit or something) and that I would have to see the guy outside the door and clear that up before I would be allowed in!
After all the guarantees they wouldn't touch the account until the end of the first day, here these guys were trying to run it before I even walked in the door. How shameless can you be?

After the guy told me there was something wrong with my account, I reiterated that it wasn't supposed to be touched until the end of the first day. He had a dead-pan look. I asked if the he cared one way or the other. He still had a dead-pan look, and finally answered "No".
I decided right there to turn in my materials and leave.

I hired web developers from India to code a website for me. At the start of the project they seemed very nice and willing to work on my project promising me 100% satisfaction. They estimated my project at $3,000.00 and , even though I specified in my posting that I would use and escrow account to hold the bid amount until completion and testing, they requested that I pay 40% upfront. I told them I would be willing to relased a portion of the escrow after I was able to see some reasonable project progress and had the opportunity to test their work. They advised that they had over 20 web developers working for them and needed to make payment to them during the course of their work. After a lot of begging on their part, I made a payment of $900.00. That's when the problems started! They told me they would begin work on my project and one week later they had no progress to show me; instead they showed me a simple website similar to mine that they claimed that they developed that was imilar to my website design; still no opportunity to test any functions. I was getting unhappy with this situation. Nonetheless, they , amazingly, asked me for a mid-term progress payment. I realized that I had been scammed and that I lost $900. I had made payment using the GAF.com escrow service. When I told them that this developer had scammed me, GAF.com did not even reply to my e-mail. I have no way to connect and get my money back.
My credit card company? Well, they are not really helpful either...
I just lost my money and had nothing to show for it but a very abd taste in my mouth for this service!
Beware of this website or you may be cheated like me.

I was unable to load their site with firefox because it took too long to load. However, I was able to bring up their site with IE. Took about 5 minutes, but it finally loaded. I was able to pull their phone number from Google's Cache if anyone needs to get in touch with them 1 (415) 665-6387. Might be quicker than waiting for the site to load.

I think the Rolee Polees look pretty cool. I might have considered buying one of it was wireless cause I can't stand wires. However, cool anyhow. To answer Roberto's question about when the first computer mouse was actually invented... it was invented by Douglas Engelbart in 1964 and and finally received a patent (computer mouse U.S. Patent # 3,541,541) in 1970, describing it in the patent application as an "X-Y position indicator for a display system. It was nicknamed the mouse because the tail came out the end.

I'm giving this a neutral rating because I'm not sure what to think of this? I would not expect to get anything free, unless I win it in a contest.

However, the BBC did a report on it and it appears to be legit. Here's link I found to a report that BBC Newsnight's Tom Carver did on the company:

I am surprized YouTube is as popular as it is cause the site is full of bugs. When I created my account it asked me to verify my email about 5 times. After about 5 tries, I figure I've already verified my email so I tried posting a comment on a video, same thing asked me to verify my email again 3 times. After logging out and going back, it stopped asking me to verify my email, but after posting my comments on a video, it said my message was posted, but it didn't show up. I tried that 4 times, and finally gave up on that, and tried sending a message to the author instead. Every time, I got an error saying that I did not provide a message, uh... yah I did. Like WTF man? SO in my humble opinion, YouTube sucks!

I've got an LCD projector beaming my TV/Computer/Playstation on to the wall. I've got all the signals coming in through my computer, so in theory I could control everything with the Penta Laser Mouse. Well, my theory was correct and now I have the perfect remote for my computerized media center. I'm such a smart guy.

The big differentiator that indieSolo emphasizes is the concept of indieSolo as a stage that allows each band a day in the sun without additional noise. The fact that they're also filtering acts via an audition process increases the overall quality making it an interesting middle ground between seeing the same limited number of acts that tend to get featured on major music sites and the overwhelming mass of acts one finds in a community like MySpace.

Their approach to web design is also relatively noise-free which is a big bonus.
