I recently bought a futon at Marten's Furniture. I wanted one with a black mattress, the only ones they had in stock was a brand new green one and also a black one which was a floor model. They said they would have to order in a new one for me whick would take 1-2 weeks. I knew the sales associate who sold the futon to me, he was a high school friend, he also told me in secret that Marten's Furniture was soon to be out of business early August. 2 weeks went by and no call from the store. I finally had to call them back. The receptionist Kathy said that they've been trying to reach me for days which was very odd because I have caller ID AND voicemail. I knew something was iffy. When I went to pick up my futon, I noticed that the floor model was now green. When I went around back the futon frame was in its original box but my mattress was horribly wrapped and handtied in a dirty bag. I questioned my "friend" if it was indeed the floor model he was giving me but he swore on his fathers grave and his little brothers life that it was brand new and fresh off the truck. Stupid me I trust people too easily. I unwrapped the mattress when I got home to reveal a rip at the seam and a nasty milky white stain the size of my palm that went from one side all the way through to the other side. We went back the next day pretty angry because we've been lied to and the fact that they were having a floor model sale at the time and we paid full price for it. I spoke to the "Floor Manager" Jane and told her what happened. She seemed very unapologetic about the whole thing and was sort of rude and impatient. All I wanted was an exchange for the green one which was now the floor model and a floor model discount which I thought was fair. She claimed she had no authorization to do exchanges, refunds or anything. Anything I asked her I got the same response back. She promised me everything will be fixed tomorrow when the "General Manager" was in. She took down my name a number and promised we'd get a call by 9 in the morning. So far no call and every time I try calling for the "General Manager" all I got was that he wasn't in and that no one knew when he was going to be. I've finally given up. The futon didn't cost much and besides it wasn't about the money it was fact that I was lied to countless of times and the complete disregard of any kind of sales ethics. I urge anyone to stay from this store, unless of course your looking for discounted floor models. But then again don't trust their delivery system either.
