*** I have read other reviews on this site (especially the negative reviews). The only reason I did not give the Peragon truck bed cover five stars is because it is not waterproof. That is the only thing I wish was a little better about the Peragon truck bed cover. You will get water leakage through the cover, especially in heavy rains. They have actually done away with the back rail on the cover so that is no longer a issue as some of the negative reviews have stated. They are right about the cover needing room to close by running up the tracks. But this does not take up as much space in the bed as some would make you believe. You just have to be cautious about stacking items in that area so you leave a little room for the cover to close. Yes, you have to readjust the rails a couple times a year but it takes minutes and is not a big deal. The cover comes with a strap that can be pulled to close the cover. It is not perfect but can be a great deal for the money. The main issue here is waterproof. If you want a completely water proof cover do not get the Peragon truck bed cover. Otherwise you should be happy.***
The main reason I bought the Peragon truck bed cover is price, convenience and security. I liked the fact that the truck bed cover was retractable. It takes less than a minute to open and close the Peragon truck bed cover. You can make available the truck bed for hauling items at a moment’s notice. It is not something you need to plan ahead with many other one piece truck bed covers that need to be removed and left at home if you plan on hauling large items. It retracts and takes up less than a foot of space in the truck bed close to the cab of the truck. It is also nice because you can fill the entire truck bed with equipment or supplies and if you stack them low enough in the truck bed you can close the cover for added protection and security. The aluminum panel used in the Peragon truck bed cover adds exceptional security to whatever you have loaded in your truck bed. If someone wanted to break into your Peragon truck bed cover they would need some serious tools and would make a lot of noise. The cover locks for added security. It does not fade and does not rust. The bearing work as good two years after use as they did the day I installed the Peragon truck bed cover. The price is excellent. I did some extensive research on retractable truck bed covers and none of them came close to the exceptional price of the Peragon truck bed cover. All of them were over $1000 (many over $1300) without offering significant benefits.
The customer service at Peragon has been exceptional. You always get help and the person helping you shows genuine concern and does everything they can to help or resolve issues. I lost some smaller pieces to the truck bed cover during installation. I called the Peragon to find out what I could do and they offered to mail the pieces out to me at “no cost” (free). It was my fault I lost the pieces but they still mailed them “free”. If by chance you do not get to speak to a representative because they are busy you can leave your name and number for them to call you back. I was thinking “right, they will not call me back”. They called back within ten minutes of leaving the message and had all my information ready because I left my name. They knew what truck bed cover I ordered and was ready to assist. Peragon has outstanding customer service.
I am a soccer coach and I like to leave my equipment in my truck so I have it for practice but was concerned it would get stolen. I also do a lot of home renovations and use the truck for hauling all kinds of materials from mulch to tile to washers/dryers. I need something that would give me good security for my soccer equipment but also open up so I could haul other materials when needed. The Peragon truck bed cover was a perfect fit.
Installation was easy. If you do it alone I would give it a 5 or 6. If you have help it is a 2-3. Installation was very simple and easy to follow.
Alright here it is. You cannot walk on this cover. You cannot get on it and jump up and down. I would not recommend standing on it to get a better view at a sporting event. It can sustain weight on it without showing any damage or breaking. When I am getting items out of my truck (without retracting the Peragon truck bed cover) sometimes I will place equipment on top of the truck bed cover to get them out of the way so I can get other items. This is fine. The cover is very strong. Just remember the bearing are the main support for the cover. The bearing are mounted to the aluminum panels which makes them strong. Excessive weight on the panels (like someone jumping on the cover) will bend the bearing where they meet the panels. The cover will not collapse in but it will bend and get damaged. I have not tried this but I believe if someone was trying to break into the cover by jumping on it the cover would hold (but would also be damaged).
