Stop Spam
I wanted to delete a screen name because of the large amount of spam mail but, AOL will not allow it because of XDrive.
I did manage to stop the spam by allowing all mail to the account then went into Parental Controls, designated it a childs screen name and allowed NO MAIL to be sent to the account.
Perhaps the spammers will get tired of sending mail to the account.
AOL is absolutely no help and as far as I am concerned, when I am paying for a service and have no control over it then AOL has broken our terms of agreement. No where does it tell you you in AOL terms of service that if you have XDrive, you can't delete a screen name.

X Drive is owned By AOL
Of course, X Drive is owned by AOL so, when you sign up for free or paid service, they seize that account. It's like a seperate account and you can go just about anywhere on your computer by using X Drive.
I also wanted to delete a screen name because of junk mail but AOL does not allow it.
I can only speak to someone in India about the problem as there is no US help with the matter.
I am very seriously considering leaving AOL because of it.
Does it make sense to loose a paying member rather than allowing you to delete a FREE account.
X Drive is horrible and AOL is even more so.

XDRIVE violation TOS
We have had AOL for many years. When we tried to establish an xdrive account, we entered our password and the screen said the password was not valid. Then AOL permanently closed our account (3 active screen names) due to a "for downloading graphic content in violation of the AOL Terms of Service (TOS)" that occured at the exact time we were trying to establish an exdrive account. So, if you want to try xdrive consider that you may instantly and permanently lose all access to your AOL account, and no new account with AOL can be created by you. AOL says that we have no recourse. They also said they will not investigate to determine if the account was hijacked, etc.

XDRIVE screwed me over - and AOL is retarded.
I never even knew I HAD an XDrive account until I realized I couldn't delete an AOL screen name that was registered for it. AOL won't let you delete a screen name if it's tied to an XDRIVE account - and what's worse? XDRIVE won't let you delete your account if it's free. So, if you have a free XDRIVE account - not only are you stuck with it for life, but you're stuck with the screen name you used to CREATE it for life.

I've contacted AOL and XDRIVE multiple times, and no one is willing to assist me with this situation. AOL tells me the only thing I can do is contact XDRIVE and delete the account, and XDRIVE continually insists they can't delete my account if it's free. Meanwhile, I'm stuck with a screen name I'm desperately longing to be rid of. It's taking up space on my account, and I wanted to get rid of it in the first place to escape an online stalker (another issue AOL was adiment about NOT helping me with).

AOL's customer service is alarmingly lacking - and XDRIVE is setup to jilt free customers into paying for the service. Even when I tried to contact XDRIVE about upgrading my account to a paid account so that I could delete it, I was informed that my free account and my paid account would be seperate - and that the free account would still exist.

Who is the real GENIUS who set this system up?

i am not that familiar with xdrive... i have found that many of these companies use indian or 3rd party support and not staffed by IT consultants.. I like www.onlinebackupvault.com they are owned and staffed by an IT company.. there are a few others also that are good out there... i have found especially with the cheapy services they dont have phone support and sub par email support

A terrible piece of software
I just used my AOL account to activate a free 5GB account, and although I can access it using the web-based interface, the web-based interface is not at all intuitive and is very slow. I tried downloading their Desktop Access software (that they claim is so easy-to-use and wonderful) and it was completely useless.

I kept getting the infamous Error 1203. There is absolutely NO support for this common error message on their website and I checked with all outside help forums and, after several days and many hours of wasted time, I was unable to solve the issue, so I just uninstalled the software and abandoned my account.

Don't waste your time with this. It just doesn't work well enough for any effective or useful utilization.

XDrive Destop is a waste of a 2-day install
Although I'm able to log into and use XDrive Web using my AOL login username and password, I am unable to do so with XDrive Destop. I get an error message of 1203. There is no help with those error codes. The user's manual suggests changing the firewall exceptions settings, but after doing so, I get error message 5103. XDrive Web is also difficult to navigate if you have pop-up blockers installed.Afterabout 15 hours over two days, I give up. XDrive Desktop is a zero. The website and software should be upgraded to work with firewalls and pop-up blockers and the confirmation email should indicate what is exactly the username and password the product is expecting. Some places it says your aol screen name, other places your email address. None of them worked with DEstop.

Too bad I can't give it a zero or a negative number
Ever since Xdrive was bought by AOL it's been worse and worse. Now you can only get in if you have an AOL login and even then half the time you can't. Any previous logins (which used to be email addresses) are now blocked out for what has been three weeks.

Customer service is seriously lacking and for a company that used to be one of the best, it sure has gone downhill. I'm betting the company that sold it to AOL is just seething.

XDRIVE IS A WASTE
I'm embarrassed to say I've had an xdrive account for many years. I only kept it because I use it for work and I'm not good at changes! I've been getting a busy signal when I call them for the past week. They don't answer emails and when they do it's usually a week or two later and not at all related to what I asked. Xdrive has the worst customer service I've ever seen. The site is constantly down, often for a week. I haven't been able to get into my account in a good week now. They give you error messages that are just plain dumb and impossible, like password is invalid - when you've had the same password for years.
