WORST SERVICE EVER!
We signed up with xplornet to get high speed capabilities only to find it is often only marginally better than dial-up.If there is a little cloud cover or a storm, even if it's 100's of miles away, service is either poor or non-existant. I have had no ability to respond to emails for 3 days. On the net I was not able to open secondary windows or they took a long time to load. Phoning "customer service" in the past has been fruitless but I decided to try again. All I wanted them to do is tell me what the problem was but they wouldn't do anything unless my husband, who is in New Zealand, called them to say they could tell me if there was a problem with their end or not. For this we pay almost $100./month! I have a friend living in a mission in Africa who has better, faster and cheaper service. Cancellation fees are ridiculous so we're stuck. If you have an alternate company to do business with choose them over xplornet.

xplornet needs to learn the meaning of customer service
I do not reccomend Xplornet for your internet provider. After almost a month of terrible service, we decided to cancel. We could not get any one to answer the phone, and five days later, when the contract was up by one day, they answered, and promptly refused to cancel, despite our many calls and reports of dissatisfaction with our "service." We can pay, however, 450.00, they say, to now cancel. They obviously have no concept of delivering real promises and keeping customers on a long term basis. We are still looking for help to get out of this rotten contract without paying this much of a penalty. Good Luck to us, and others out there in the same situation.

can't wait to get out
I was so excited to get high speed that I jumped right into xplornet without checking the reviews. My contract can't end soon enough. At least with dial up you expect it to be slow.

Not unless you ABSOLUTELY have to...
Used to be good service when we switched from dialup in '06. Got terrible last fall. Can't count the number of calls until I finally stumbled upon someone that told us we were only getting 20% signal - when there was a signal. That took about 7 months to find out. A technician finally came out (after more calls wondering where this person was) we got some answers from him - oh, OOPS forgot to mention they had moved the tower FURTHER away from the location for our signal - and no one in 7 months of calls happened to figure that out?!?!?!? One of the last people I spoke with trying to find out where the technician was - he was an absolute jerk. We finally have new hardware installed by the technician and it has only quit once - apparently because we don't have a static ip (costs more money - imagine that). When I called for service had a level 1 go through the routine - then talked to someone that actually seemed to know something - when I told her I had done the unplug, blah, blah in the order - oh well, needed to do it this way because the level 1's don't know the right order - gee - maybe they should train these people so they know what they are doing! Amazingly, there was no record of all of the calls I made all winter long - just one from back in the fall. They are supposed to be giving me some credit on the upcoming bills - will have to keep track if it actually gets done. IF YOU HAVE ANY OTHER OPTION - STAY AWAY FROM XPLORNET BECAUSE YOU WON'T GET GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE.

From bad to worse
Does anyone from Xplornet actually read these reviews? I hope the company president reads them. For new customers, my advice is to stay away, unless dial up is your only option. It is better than dial up.

We signed up for Xplornet through Sasktel. Sasktel is now promoting Xplornet and calling it high speed service. That gets the Crown Corporation off the hook for a promise made in 2008 to provide broadband service to all corners of Saskatchewan. Those that we know who signed up are also very unhappy with the speed of the service.

Xplornet does not meet the usual definition of high speed. It's slow at the best of times. If you ever try to download a larger file or a larger update for your computer, the Xplornet system kicks you into slowdown mode. Youtube videos quickly overtax the system. Forget about trying to download movies or anything like that. Even many common and necessary tasks become impossible to complete.

The Xplornet rep advised me to install a download manager and schedule downloads for the time period between 2 and 5 A.M., Manitoba time. Apparently they don't limit the speed (other than the limit imposed by the level of service that you pay for) at that time. That might work well for those who sleep all day and stay up all night I suppose.

there really do misrepresent themselves
I am on the extreme package 5mbps and can not get a sustained speed of over 110 kbps, they tell me that is just fine and in range.

Well in my mind that is a far cry from the 5 mbps that I am paying for.
Their support is sadly lacking, etc etc.
They are grossly misrepresenting their speed, and should be sued for muisrepresentation , but they always quote that "up to".
I feel i should get at least 75% of the advertised speed, doesnt matter the time of day here the speed is alway the same.

I am sure how their service is bashed on the net, and truly dont care.
They are the only high pseed in town here, and I pray daily for another provider so I can dump them once and for all

Xplornet - After 30 days you're in their net
We got caught in the xplornet. In article 4 of the agrrement you are prohibited from using the service and if try to get out of the net, explornet says it will cost us about $500.00 This is based on a contract we do not seem to have but was referred to in a service agreement with an instalation company (we do not have this one either). Explornet claims no responsibility for any type of service implied or otherwise, can change yours at a whim, and require you (at your cost) to relocate youtr antenna. Avoid this net like H1N1 - My suggestion is keep on looking - Any other choice is probably a better choice.

Disappointed
Seems quick if you surf the middle of the night. Great if you suffer from insomnia!

Very disappointed
We bought the 3Mbps package, too. Download speeds are ok, at around 900k to 2.5Mbps. Upload speeds are horrible, and are always around 200bps evenings and all weekend. This translates into internet performance that is worse than the last dialup I had years ago. Very, very disappointing. Tech support is there, but I have twice been put on hold for over 1/2 hr. to speak to a "Level 2" tech and gave up - their initial level of tech support will answer the phone but they don't know anything. Also very disappointing. Should have gone for the HughesNet dish for more money but at least it would work.

The worst of the worst
Had xplornet fixed wireless for the free 30 days test and recived 3 Mbps consistently, but the day after I locked into the 3 year 3Mbps contract my speeds droped to 150kbps max. Aperently this is how they work to get you to sighn the contract and then once locked in say goodbye to the speed. Xplornet is scammers. Dont be fooled the contract says they dont even need to provide service but you still have to pay for it.
